1% of all CHEDS revenue goes straight to Stripe Climate, funding next-generation carbon removal.
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a bioplastic made from renewable resources like corn starch or sugarcane, and it's widely regarded as a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and polystyrene (PS). The majority that we use at CHEDS is sourced from Europe (soon to be all!).
Any painted products use acrylic paints that are non-toxic, solvent free, pesticide and herbicide free, with no animal products, no ethereal oils and no heavy metals.
The Eco Acrylics are manufactured in Sheffield from sustainable, renewable resources. Find out more at https://colourcraft.uk/eco-credentials
All products will be sent using recyclable materials:

In 2023, approximately £4 billion worth of toys and games were imported into the UK, with around £3.3 billion coming from non-EU countries.
China: ~£2.6 billion
Czech Republic: ~£308 million
Hungary: ~£192 million
You can guarantee that all CHEDS products have been made in Manchester and shipped locally.
Shipping 1 kg of goods from China to the UK via air freight produces approximately 4.75 kg of CO₂. Sea freight is less carbon-intensive but still contributes significantly to emissions.
Given that a large proportion of plastic homeware and toys are imported from Asia, the associated transport emissions are considerable.
